"Putsborough Flow" captures the powerfully dark sky as rain clouds and a storm approach the beach, transforming a typically serene paradise into a vivid reminder that even the best beach days can turn into atmospheric dramas. The purple hues reflecting off the sea enhance this dramatic shift, offering a striking visual experience—or a reason to pack an umbrella.
As the artist, I aimed to convey this dramatic transformation through a mixed media abstract painting. By employing flow techniques and layering various media, I created depth and energy within the piece. To add a touch of authenticity and texture (and because I clearly don't have enough hobbies), I incorporated real seashells and driftwood collected from the beach.
Presented on cotton rag paper with raw edges exposed, the artwork maintains an organic, raw quality—perfect for those who appreciate a bit of rugged charm. Encased in a 3D shadow frame, it gains an additional dimension, allowing the textures and elements to stand out and invite closer inspection. This presentation not only protects the artwork but also emphasizes its layered complexity, offering viewers a deeper connection to the powerful and ever-changing nature of coastal landscapes. Or, at the very least, something to ponder while sipping coffee.
Signed by the artist, this abstract art piece would look stunning against a white or Hague Blue wall, bringing a touch of Devon's coastal beauty into your home. Just think of it as a way to enjoy the beach without the sunburn and sand in your shoes.
