*"Sedum Spray"* is my tribute to the wildflowers that have burst into life after a wildfire swept through Baggy Point, North Devon, a couple of years ago. This walk, with its expansive sky and the distant outline of Hartland Point, is one of my favorites. There's something deeply moving about how nature recovers, how life unfurls anew from the ashes.
Creating this abstract seascape in acrylic flow art was my way of taking a week-long retreat, immersing myself in the quiet resilience of this landscape. I've been watching these plants with fascination, intrigued by how they've flourished in the wake of flames. Their emergence feels like a small miracle, a reminder of nature’s unstoppable force.
In *"Sedum Spray,"* the painting moves between petrol blues and turbulent skies, contrasted by the serene aqua lines of the horizon. The soft pinks of the sedum flowers and the straw-colored meadows in the distance bring a gentle warmth to the scene. It’s a reflection of life—moments of calm interwoven with chaos. When I look at this piece, I feel that delicate balance, a sense of peace mixed with the undercurrent of something wild and untamed.
This abstract seascape is my way of capturing a fleeting moment in time—these flowers only bloom for a few weeks, and I wanted to preserve their beauty, to share it with others before it fades.
And, of course, my signature on each piece is a small reminder of the care and passion that went into creating it.
With *"Sedum Spray,"* I hope you feel that same sense of peace—though perhaps without needing to don a wet suit. It’s a gentle nudge to slow down, to appreciate the small, beautiful things in life, and to find wonder in unexpected places—even if that place is an abstract seascape hanging in your living room.
